Hello all,

What's the quickest/easiest way to setup my FC5 box so that I can see a winXP share?
Do I have to do a full Samba setup? (I don't really mind if the winXP box cannot see the FC5 box...One way read-only access from the FC5 box to the winXP share would do just fine...)

cheers,
g.

from your linux box type:

mount //x.x.x.x/remoteshare /where/you/want/to/mount/it/locally -t cifs -o guest
the x.x.x.x should be the ip address of your win box

if you want to connect with a specific user do: -o user=bla, password=bla

hope this helps

You can browse a windows network directly using either Gnome or KDE. In Gnome, just click Places Menu->NetworkServers->Windows Network and select the winXP box you want to look at. No special configuration is required.

For KDE, use the smb:/ kioslave (enter smb:/ in Konqueror).
