View Full Version : OpenDX

I have successfully installed OpenDX on an i386 architecture (by compiling source code), but ran into troubles when trying likewise on my x86-64 machine.

Has anyone managed to install OpenDX on an 64-bit architecture running FC5? If so I would be most grateful to read a narrative from your success story. :)

One typical error message I got when issuing 'make' (I managed to run the configure file) was:

/usr/lib/libGL.so: could not read symbols: File in wrong format

Maybe this has to do with OpenDX being a 32-bit application (not sure whether that is the case)?

Also: I previously installed the Nvidia graphics driver from the Livna repository, and the library above is symbolically linked to /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.8756, which I assume is provided by that package (is there a way to find out via, say, the rpm command?).

Anyhow, if you have got any ideas how to resolve this, please let me know!

Best regards,

Well, it eventually got sorted out---it was a problem with the GL libraries. I made use of the LDFLAGS option (also I am using the bash shell; let '>' below denote my prompt):

> export LDFLAGS=-L/usr/lib64

and then

> make
> make install

as usual. It seems to have made the trick (at least I may run OpenDX via 'dx')!

Best regards,
