I have problems in Fedora Core 5.

When i run Xmms, and tries to minimize it, it doesnt minimize, instead it brings up any other windows! I find this very annoying and wish to make it stop. This happends both on my Laptop, a Dell Latitude D505, and my Desktop, a p4 3.2 HT, 1024mb RAM, ATI X600 Pro.

Does anyone else have this problem? Must be someone else, because it seems that it's something in Fedora causing this. I even tried to rebuild Xmms from source, but it has the same problems then.

Hello:
Initially xmms behaved that way, however there were some updates via yum that corrected the behaviour. At least for me ...I have yum configured as described here : http://www.stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#Yum

Seve: what version of xmms are you running?

# rpm -q xmms

Last update from Fedora still buggy for me.

XMMS i386 Epoch 1 Version 1.2.10 Release 23.fc5 from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/5/i386//xmms-1.2.10-22.fc5.i386.rpm does not exhibit this behavior, at least for me.

but seriously try out beep-media-player :) yum install bmp

bmpx is even newer but i think its still early early dev stages right now

i had this hapopen on an install myself,, since i have reinstalled FC5 . i only use BEEP which works fine an minnimizes without a problem.. could the issue be between xmms-mp an another mp3 plugin for another player?

You have listed R23 but the link points to R22. I have the latest xmms (23 through yum).
In Gnome it still flips out for me, I'll reset my .xmms settings and try again.

Okay, I re-installed 1.2.10-23 anyways and removed the .xmms profile - no luck.
As it turns out bmp does the same thing.

Its not xmms, its the window manager. I decided to update Metacity (the Gnome window manager).

# yum update metacity

That fixed it.

I also have same problem with xmms-1.2.10-23.fc5
I also used yum -y update to update all pacages
then i installed beep media player and it has same problem.
When minimizing xmms it restores all other program windows.
