I followed the above directions, but when i restart ff and try to view pdf files i leaves me with a blank page saying done. there is a question i have about gedit /etc/mozpluggerrc. It says n /etc/mozpluggerrc comment out the pdf section with "#"s so that it looks like this:

#######################
###application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
###application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
###text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
###text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
### ACROREAD()
### repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file"
### repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
### repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
### GV()
#######################
Don't understand that part very well either. can someone help me with thisor explain if i copy that and paste it in the gedit/etc/mozpluggerrc? thanks

what it means:
you propably have something similar to this:

application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
ACROREAD()
repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
GV()

now, just add '#' to make it look like this..

#######################
###application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
###application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
###text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
###text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
### ACROREAD()
### repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file"
### repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
### repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
### GV()
#######################

that is called commenting out... The program will just ignore every line that starts with an '#'

I went back and added #'s to the /etc/mozpluggerrc where it says to. When i click on a pdf file ,all i i see is mozplugger. NO appropriate application found.

i never understood why stanton-finley's guide tells u to install mozplugger, maybe there's a reason for it but it's not necessary.
i'd suggest to just uninstall mozplugger and make sure you have the link for the adobe plugin in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. if you don't then
su root
cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
ln -s /usr/local/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so
you can check to see if the plugin is installed correctly by opening firefox and in the address bar entering
about:plugins and there should be a table for adobe reader

Edit: The Adobe Reader installation instructions in the Notes (http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html) have been revised now that the dries repository contain the Adobe Reader acroread RPM.

If you don't have the proprietary Adobe Reader installed, you can do this:

application/pdf:pdf:PDF file
application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/pdf:pdf:PDF file
text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file
ACROREAD()
# repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill: evince "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(kpdf) fill: kpdf "$file"
repeat noisy swallow(Xpdf) fill: xpdf -g +9000+9000 "$file"
GV()

This opens kpdf inside firefox for me, and I find it faster than Adobe Reader. Besides, it's free! (speech)
