View Full Version : X11 update broke X on FC4

I just performed the FC4 update on xorg-x11 (x86_64) and now my machine won't boot into X. It appears to start the NVidia driver (splash screen appears) but then briefly shows text login and has another go. It eventually gives up trying to start X.

As usual, I'm desperate to get a document finshed for work and could do without this! Is anyone else having the same problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim.

Some extra information. the output from startx includes:

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to load GLX
...
Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

It has always worked with GLX and the NVidia driver version is x86_64-1.0-7676-pkg2

Thanks in anticipation,

Tim.

OK, at the risk of appearing to talk to myself, some more info:

I've got X working by not using the nvidia but rather the nv driver. Since I installed the NVidia driver using the NVidia binary (I didn't know about the correct livna approach when I did it), could my problem be due to the X11 update overwriting some of the NVidia driver configuration?

Yours, not quite so deperately,

Tim.
