I have just installed the latest Totem-Xine DVD player from "The Unofficial Fedora FAQ" and although it appeared to install OK, it is not showing in Applications > Sound & Video.
I know it should show as "Movie Player"....but it isn't there.

Hi imdeernvp
I have opened your personal How To's again....this time reading it a bit more carefully to find that you suggest not to use any other repo but atrpms.
I have attempted to remove the earlier Mplayer and start again.
First of all I find a different interface which I haven't seen before.........there is sound but no picture again.

Could that mean I still haven't removed the remnants of the previous MPlayer?............or
In preferences > Codecs & Demuxer, am I using the wrong settings?

Thank you for your help

Just type totem in the command line. If it doesn't start, it isn't installed.

What? Please DON'T use ATRPMS - They replace base packages and cause many, many problems - imdeemvp, have you seen the warnings?

Just type totem in the command line. If it doesn't start, it isn't installed.
I've installed Totem but it said that it couldn't open the DVD........I've tried Totem-Xine and that either wouldnt accept the file or there was no vision.

I have already set up a new post "Desperation" explaining my dilema .
It seems from my newby point of view that FC5's weak link is multimedia.
Do I need to move to another Distro to relieve the problem, or what???
Please reply on my "Desperation" post

Sorry

Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because you do not have the appropriate plugins to handle it.
