Hi,

I'm new to Fedora and I'm using Core 5 at the moment. I've used other distros before and e.g. in Ubuntu I saw an automatic update checking program. That is very comfortable in my opinion. Unfortunately I couldn't find a similar tool in Fedora. Is there a way to make that work in Fedora?

I don't know but you can have it automatically update (not just check) daily by turning on the "yum" service:

chkconfig --level 345 yum on
service yum start

Hi, that's not what I wanted. I only want to know, whether there are updates available or not automatically. I don't always want to have to start yum to see that. That's kind of annoying.

fedore core 1,2,3,4 had the redhat update tool. it was a green dot in the notification area that would change color depending if you had updates. for fc5 i'm not sure if there is anything out there or not. file a bug and see where the chips fall. post back so that evertone else who might be looking for somethng like this will also benefit
