1st May 2006, 09:01 AM
Hi guys, I am a newbie in Linux. I just installed Fedora Core 5 for my desktop office pc. The problem is, the multimedia aplication can not play mp3 file. I use XMMS and Amarok for play mp3 file. What a problem with that, guys? The error message just only said, that the player can not play mp3 files. But after I download and install Real Player 10 Gold, there is no problem with that. Only Real Player 10 Gold that can play mp3 files. Please give me the solution and help guys....why I cannot play mp3 files in Amarok and XMMS? Is there any plugins that I have to install in there?
Thanx for help and suport all of you, guys...

For xmms open up a terminal screen and type:

yum -y install xmms-mp3

you may want to do this command, for fedora core 5:
rpm -Uhv http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release5.rpm
then do the yum -y install xmms-mp3

also, you can do this:
yum -y install kdemultimedia-extras-nonfree
after you installed xmms-mp3, it can't hurt
