I'm currently installing the programs for my server by using Stanton Finley's guide to FC5.

http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_core_5_installation_notes.html#phpMyAdmin

After making the first changes to config.inc.php, and moving it to its proper directory, phpMyAdmin gives me the following error when I attempt to access it via Firefox:

phpMyAdmin - Error

Cannot load mysql extension. Please check your PHP configuration. - Documentation

Any ideas?

Maybe. When I first installed FC4, I couldn't connect to a MySQL database from PHP. Turned out that the PHP MySQL connector module wasn't loaded by default. Find it in Add/Remove programs, Web Server category (at least on FC4). After installation, restart your system and try again.

Hope this helps.

Yep you are probably missing the php-mysql package which you can install through yum.

# yum install php-mysql
