I installed FC5 and I want to be able to access files under windows, I installed Ext2IFS but it only allows me to map the 100mb's for the boot, not the 40gb's I have for the OS...

Can someone point me in the right direction? Ext2IFS looks perfect but doesn't get my second Linux partition.

The issue is probably that Fedora Core puts its partitions in LVM; and most of those programs can't deal with LVM. Explore2fs (http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/explore2fs.htm) claims it can read LVM, but I haven't verified this.

I have experienced a similar problem using explore2fs. Using EXT2IFS was even worse. A few years ago when I was using Turbolinux 6.0 Workstation, explore2fs worked quite well. In view of the importance and desirability of viewing Linux files from Microsoft Windows, why does Fedora use LVM?

I installed John Newbigin's explore2fs version1.08beta7 last Friday, 19 May 2006, and found that it worked quite satisfactorily for viewing an ext3 file system from Windows XP. There is an option to hide files beginning with a period. It was downloaded from http://www.chrysocome.net/explore2fs. There seemed to be a minor bug in displaying files alphabeticaly but perhaps that will be fixed in a later version.

I also downloaded the rpm for Linux-NTFS and found after installation on Fedora Core 5 that it worked quite well for viewing an NTFS file system from Linux. Very good instructions for downloading and installing are found at http://www.linux-ntfs.org/content/view/127/63/ .
