Can anyone else verify if buring cds using an ATAPI IDE cdrw device works as a normal user (as opposed to root) on FC5, kernel-2.6.16? I didn't test it on the earlier 2.6.15 kernel.

CD buring used to work great in FC4 but has stopped in FC5. It works as root, but using nautilus-cd-burner as root is tricky without loging out. I think this may to do with a kernel-level change but I'm not sure.

Hi,

I tried to burn a dvd with Kb3 under root and kernel 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5 and it work perfectly well.
However when doing the same as a simple user it failed.

I didn't know it came from that. Thanks.

Using nautilus-cd-burner as user DOES NOT work on my FC5 installation also! CD burner device is Plextor PX-W5224A. The problem is that cdrecord does not work when invoked by user! There is a bug entry in bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=179862

I just burned a wav audio and several mp3 discs with no problem. I also burned a nopix live cd and a Fedora5 rescue CD,
K3B-3.5.2-1.2 FC32.6.16-1.2096. It has been working fine in FC3 and never had a problem since the FC5 upgrade. I do not
have a DVD burner. I think I used to have to provide root password with xcdroast on FC3 but I don't think I ever needed it
since intalling K3B.

I use K3B for cd and dvds as user with no problems. Running in both RHEL and FC5.
