I want to get the information regarding the superblock and it's structure such as which byte will hold the partition size,at what position the remaining size of a partition is written etc.what about the same for FAT & NTFS partitions? If I edit this can I make a partition containing information to look like a fresh drive with entire space of partition available for user.
Thanks in advance

I am not quite sure what you mean here. On ext3 there are superblocks available only to the root user (If I remember correctly about 5% of the partition space). I disabled that by running this command:

tune2fs -m 0 /dev/sda1
This was on my raid5 using 4 200GB disks - freed up 30 GB of space by running that command :)
