Can yum be set to automatically find and/or install updates in case I forget to update it? Haven't found the code to do that yet.

you can add "yum -y update" to your root crontab (http://www.computerhope.com/unix/ucrontab.htm)

There's also the built-in way, you turn on the yum service:

/sbin/chkconfig yum on

and to get it going now (in case you don't reboot for a while):

/etc/init.d/yum start

since fedora already has yum in the cron.daily and cron.weekly directories
it will just work
