View Full Version : help mount LVM VolGroup01 RAID 0

5th April 2006, 05:22 PM

I need to activate and mount my second LVM drive volume.

I have HP DL380 smart Array 2 with SCSI volgroup00 RAID 5 (three drives + 1 spare)
I have a SCSI volgroup01 as RAID 0 (5th drive on system single drive )

Both seem fine during bios check on boot.

During FC5 install volgroup 00 was set up as p1, p2, and p3.
01 was set up as p1 /www2 and p2 /www3 partitions EXT3.

I believe they were automatically formatted
All FC5 files are on 00 and works ok.

SELinux: Setting up existing superblocks.
SELinux is set to "permissive".

In DMESG I see:

, , , numerous lines unrelated

md: Autodetecting RAID arrays.
md: autorun ...
md: ... autorun DONE.

, , , numerous lines unrelated

EXT3 FS on dm-0, internal journal
kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
EXT3 FS on ida/c0d0p1, internal journal
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
SELinux: initialized (dev ida/c0d0p1, type ext3), uses xattr
SELinux: initialized (dev tmpfs, type tmpfs), uses transition SIDs
Adding 1048568k swap on /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01. Priority:-1 extents:1 across:1048568k

In /var/log/messages I see this:

cpqarray: Starting firmware's background processing
ida/c0d0: p1 p2 p3
ida/c0d1: p1 p2
SCSI subsystem initialized

SELinux: initialized (dev dm-0, type ext3), uses xattr

/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0

MY /DEV Dir shows:
/VolGroup00 Which shows: /LogVol00 and /LogVol01

* No VolGroup01 anywhere.

My /Mnt shows blank, empty, nothing

I have been searching and found "some" ideas so I post the results below:
00 is my main file area and 01 is swap part.

-bash-3.1# sudo /usr/sbin/lvscan

ACTIVE '/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00' [15.75 GB] inherit
ACTIVE '/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01' [1.00 GB] inherit

*note Volgroup01 did not appear above.

Never worked with LVM before.
How do I get something to recognize volG01?
How do I mount the drive with both partitions volg01-00 /www2 and 01. /www3 ?

Thanks for the assist

I used Webmin to mount the file systems. It detected them and mounted them "by label".

Life is good !
