View Full Version : how to find/install apt for fc5

5th April 2006, 11:48 AM
I went to download apt package manager (maybe called apt-get) from their website, they didnt have a RPM for fedora core 5. I did a search with yum but couldnt find it in their repos.

Could anyone tell me where i can find a version of apt for FC5 and any configuration info i may need.

Thank you in advance,

Is there any particular reason you need apt? Yum is basically the same thing.

Im coming from debian. I am having trouble installing ipw2200bg in fedora, i have done it sucessfully in debian through apt. guess i just want some familiar ground.

I'm not sure, but I don't think any of the major repos support apt anymore. So you're going to be stuck with yum I'm afraid.

As far as your problem with ipw2200bg goes, just search around the forums. A quick glance in the hardware forums found this thread that should help you.

Here's a howto for the IPW2200, and also how to configure and use yum for that.

Apt is not recommended for Fedora

Don't use apt for Fedora Core 4 or above. You are going to have problems.
