I search the forums and this question hsa been asked before but no one ever answers... maybe it just can't be done. Anyways, I'm creating a bash script to start certain services after my system has goten to the desktop. The thing is though the service command requires a root login / password. Is there a way to have bash log into root, then log back out? For example:

su -
<login>
service network start
<log out>

Something like that?

Why would you need to do that? You should be able to get all your services started by the system automatically.

To make it seem like the boot is faster, Since determining your ip adress takes the longest part of a boot I want to load it after I am already logged on, therefor making ti seem like my system is faster.
