I need help to reconfigure grub.conf from grub command line.
I have dual boot with xp and FC4 somehow I mess something up and at the beginning of boot process all I have is grub command console. I managed to boot xp by using commands "rootnoverify (hd0,0)" and "chainloader +1" but I can't load FC4 and I don't how to repair it. I don't remember my FC4 kernel version either.
Thanks for any help.

download a liveCD like knoppix and use the find command to find your kernel version for fc4

find /boot/ -iname *.img

then use the version numbers to rebuild grub.conf

root(hdx, y)
kernel /vmlinuz-<version> ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-<version>.img

If you start grub and enter root(hdx,y), you can autocomplete kernel and initrd file names with TAB key.
x and y are the numbers of disk and partition (first=0).

Thanks for replies,
I reinstalled grub through linux rescue disc, but now I got error 15, file not found, when I try to load FC4 I can still load xp.
I check grub.conf file it seems to be fine. below is grub.conf
Kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp.img

Thanks again for quick replies,
I fixed it; it had the wrong partition number.
