View Full Version : Allowing user access of shutdown command

I am attempting to create an icon for my panel (in XFCE) to run the "shutdown -a" command. I have to allow my user account access to this command while in root. Everything I have read has not helped me. How do I allow access to my user account?

If you wanted to let anybody shut down use "poweroff"

Yes, I know of power off. However, it doesn't save any information, it simply just shuts off the computer.

You want something like xfce4-shutdown (http://www.penguin-soft.com/penguin/man/1/xfce4-shutdown.html)? I assume such a command is available.
