I had Windows XP and FC5 on my 6GB laptop til I ran out of HD space. I decided to just use FC5. So I reformatted by deleting all partitions and creating new ones. I decided not to install GRUB because I was no longer dual booting. After installation all I received was a grub> screen.

I tried the following at this (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=975&highlight=error+kernel+loaded+booting) link but it's not working.

I try this step grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
and I get an error of Error 15: file not found

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Insert your install or rescue CD and press F5 at the logo screen. You will be given a shell, at which you should enter the command "grub-install". :)

Thanks for the quick response. I did grub-install and I got farther. For some reason I do not have a grub.conf file. This is the step I am at now.

10) Finally, you'll have to edit your /boot/grub/grub.conf, for example whith nano:

> nano /boot/grub/grub.conf

(/etc/grub.conf or /boot/grub/grub.conf or /boot/grub/menu.lst, they are the same file) This file has the boot partitions of the disk/s.
