View Full Version : fresh install first time boot lockup

29th March 2006, 12:24 AM
So i installed fc5 and when i go to start it up for the first time, it locks up when it says "probing for new hardware"
so i tried the interactive startup and found out (through a couple boots) that it locks up on loading the kudzu service and the firstboot service.

So i got all the way into linux finally after not allowing those to run and i did a yum update...rebooted and still got the same lockup on startup....what is going on and what should i do? I also got an error in the interactive startup when i said yes to running cpu_freq, it said no such device (sounds like bs to me).

Please help!

Do you have Hyper Threading ? Turn off from BIOS and try again OR, try to start Fedora some times without a hardware item (disconnected) and see what happening.
