View Full Version : HAL & USB key: how to fix correct umask?

28th March 2006, 08:57 AM
Hello *,
I'm using a SSH key located on a USB key. Since I upgraded to FC5, the filesystem is mounted with an incorrect umask and ssh complaints:

Permissions 0755 for '/home/xavier/.ssh/id_dsa' are too open.
It is recommended that your private key files are NOT accessible by others.
This private key will be ignored.

(ssh/id_dsa is a symlink to /media/USBDISKPRO/ssh/id_dsa)

In /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/10-storage-policy.fdi, there is a line for vfat filesystems:

<merge key="volume.policy.mount_option.umask=077" type="bool">true</merge>

But it does not work. Any tip?
