Hi,

If I update software using yum or software updater (in Fedora 5), what will happen
to the older version of the software? Will they be deleted?

I don't want all my disk space used up due to updates.

Thank you.

I could be wrong...But it is my understanding that the existing package will just be updated. Just like upgrading from FC4 to FC5 :-)

RPM tools like yum replace the relevant existing files on the system with versions from the new RPM package. By default, yum deletes the RPMs that it downloads after using them.
