linux firmware wireless nic smc2802w

hi all

i am after a firmware download for the aformentioned wireless nic
and smc-australia have informed me that there is no such download from their site

so does anyone know of a third party firmware download (keeping in mind that this is the 54Mbps card, and that the part number is different from overseas versions)

or should i just go and get a different wireless nic, one that has proper support for linux?

i think it is similar to this http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...t=26825&page=1
but obviously with a different nic

thanks
dave

hi there,

i have an smc2802w pci card and got it to work great in fc...have to get a firmware file from http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/PrismFirmwares.html and copy it to /lib/firmware (i believe...am not at my machine, at work as i'm typing this from memory). hit google for "linux prism54 firmware" as well.

Have you got it to work with WPA-PSK (wpa_supplicant)? I am under the impression that you are supposed to use ndiswrapper for this, but can't find any final statement on this.
