I'm having troubles as well. I'm not sure if it has to do with the builds of the rpm's (the nx package was built with FC5t2).

I'm trying to install the FreeNX server on a completely new install of FC5.

My steps..
-
Code:
yum upgrade.
-
Code:
yum install expect nc
- downloaded freenx-0.4.4-2.FC5.0.noarch.rpm and nx-1.5.0-4.FC5.1.i386.rpm from http://fedoranews.org/contributors/rick_stout/freenx/
-
Code:
rpm -Uvh nx-1.5.0-4.FC5.1.i386.rpm
[root@boo Desktop]# rpm -Uvh nx-1.5.0-4.FC5.1.i386.rpm
warning: nx-1.5.0-4.FC5.1.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID b90aee70
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:nx ########################################### [100%]
[root@boo Desktop]#
-
Code:
rpm -Uvh freenx-0.4.4-2.FC5.0.noarch.rpm
[root@boo Desktop]# rpm -Uvh freenx-0.4.4-2.FC5.0.noarch.rpm
warning: freenx-0.4.4-2.FC5.0.noarch.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID b90aee70
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:freenx ########################################### [100%]
Stopping sshd: [ OK ]
Starting sshd: [ OK ]
[root@boo Desktop]#
Then when I try to connect from the machine running the NX Client, I make it thru authentication and then it dies with a Session Startup Failed .

I had to into the Advanced settings under Configuration and check the box "Enable SSL Encryption of All Traffic" under Network for it to actually work. Once I figured that out I've had no problems with it since.

i also have the same problem with the FreeNX FC5 build and cannot get it to work

however, since the nomachine nxserver works then use nomachine until FreeNX for FC5 is ready

I've built new RPMs using the final release of FC5, you can download them here but note that the nxclient portion of the build is currently disabled due to issues with the modular xorg included with FC5. If you wish to connect to your Linux box from a Windows client, using the nomachine client software, the builds I have created should work for you.

The FC5 rpm currently listed on Rick's site won't install on my FC5 box due to missing dependencies. I rebuilt the RPMs using the final release of FC5 and those are the ones I posted. These seem to install on my FC5 boxes without issue.

except that, I still can't get FreeNX to work even with Flu's rpm's

on the client side, I keep getting the following errors:

Code:
XPROXY - Version 1.5.0

Copyright (C) 2001, 2005 NoMachine.
See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information.

Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '992'.
Info: Connecting to remote host 'tcoburn.us:5000'.
Info: Aborting the procedure due to signal '15', 'SIGTERM'.
am I supposed to open port 5000 on my router or something?
