Sound Card Video card issues

1stly the video card

i have a Gforce 4 mx440 and the newer drivers(drivers above 7676) were giving me issues in fedora core 4. i have just installed fedora core 5 and im trying to install the nvidia driver 7676. everything runs smothly uuntill the very end. when u think its installed it gives this error message.

Error: unable to build the NVIDIA kernel module.

i have install gcc and the kernel-devel. anyone know what the problem is??

2ndly the sound card.

i have 2 sound cards. 1 is onbored Intel AC'97 audio and a creative sound blaster live.

when installing fedora i chose the intel sound card as the defult. i want to keep it that way (i have my reasons why) but when fedora boots it always changes it to sound blaster live 1. any1 know how i can make it not do that?

thanks in advance
