Yeah, it's been pointed out before that the forum's time stamps don't work quite right. You can set the preferred timezone in your user preferences and the numbers of all the displayed times will change correctly, but it always says PST even when it isn't. I want acknowledgment of my AEST, dammit ;-)

why isn't GMT used like everywhere else? time is measured by Grenwich Mean Time in london, UK....not by pacific standard time or eastern standard time.

Good thing I don't have to go by a clock in London then isn't it?
I would get very confuzzsed about when to get up or eat!!
And where in the world the server seems to be located has (usually) something to do with whichever time is displayed.
I just set my profile and then ignore the "PST" stuff, cuz the correct time for me is then displayed.
It's a great forum and more then likely "adjusting" the time displayed + area for each of the more/less 5000+ users it's had lately could slow it down even more..
Actually I have several "clocks" around here within reach that display everything from GMT to CST (local and adjusted for Daylight savings time)--even US Military time..(is it 24 hundred hours? or is it double-nought hundred hours?) it's not so hard to mentally figure the time.
Even on those very "old fashioned" analog clocks, which I grew up with.

that doesn't appear to be the case. there are plenty of examples of forums where the servers are located in america, yet GMT is always used. this is the only forum that i know of where GMT is not used, so where the server is located is not a factor/reason.

on this post, it says: "Today, 03:20 AM PST". it would be the right time if it weren't for the "PST" which just confuses things for people. at the moment, its 03:20 BST (british summer time. the clocks went forward an hour ago) or 2:20 GMT. they are the correct time...not 3:20 PST.

Not really.
I've just got used to "descrepencies" from the inet pages over the last bunch of years I guess.
A lot of pages display weirdly--this little PST thing doesn't even come close to some of the really fouled up tables I have had trying to display on some websites.
I am just glad the forum is here displaying any time it wants--it's the info I look for. Now the actual day and year comes in handy sometimes.
