not detected: SoundMax AD1885 integrated Sound Dell Optiplex GX240

FC4 does not detect the SoundMax AD1885 integrated Sound on the Dell Optiplex GX240. There is another post (link below) suggesting that FC1 *did* detect this card, and that FC3 did *not*. Something about the 2.6 kernel break this card?

I have already posted about this in another thread, but I wanted to post under a more fitting thread title and in the appropriate forum location. Here's the link to my post in the other thread.

The thread above also links to another thread, but this thread assumes that Fedora was able to detect the mixer, so I doubt it's useful. I'll include the link anyway:

Using lspci, I noticed that there was no entry for the soundcard. Someone had disabled the sound card in the BIOS. After re-enabling it, FC4 found and configured the card without issue.
