Laser Printers

I am interested in buying a basic laser printer for document printing,

i have been looking at the low end Samsung printers (22ppm @ $99 on newegg.. hard to beat)

any recomendations on how easily this printer will be to setup under Fedora core 4 x64?

I have not even owned a printer in years.. not since i switched to Linux. any recomendations would be appreciated.

I suggest you grab a cup of your favourite beverage and browse around a bit on LinuxPrinting.org. See if you can find that particular Samsung printer there and if it's useable with Linux.

Me, I'd find a laser printer that talks PostScript of some form. Sure, they don't come at $99, but at least they work. Have a look at the "suggested printers" page on that site.

samsung ML-2010

I have a Samsung ML-2010 laser printer running with Fedora 4 i386 and it works very well.
I set it up over two months ag use it almost every day with no problems.

avoid the ml1600's or whatever the really cheap samsungs are they will be winprinters (gdi?)

look for something with postscript or hp pcl compatibility, laserjet iv and 5L's and certain brothers have served me well, hang on that sounds kinda wrong, brother is the make of printer!

look at linuxprinting as someone mentionned, and make sure there is a cups driver for it.
