samsung printer problems

I just bought a Samsung ML-2010 lazer printer for school. THe problem i have is installing the software even though the directions are simple to read and understand.
You need to be logged in as the super-user (root) to be able to install this
package.

- Run the 'setup.sh' script on the CDROM to launch the installation program,
if the installer didn't start automatically upon insertion of the CDROM in
your drive.
Well when i i click on the setup.sh file it ask for my root password even though i am root already. I type in the password again and thats it. Nothing happens it just disappears. i hope that i dont have to compile but is there any other way to do this. I havent found an RPM yet but i will try samsung support if i cant get this going. any ideas?

with the .sh extension, I am assuming that setup.sh is a shell script. If that is the case, after the cd is mounted, cd to the directory with setup.sh in it and run it with the -x commandline option:

sh -x ./setup.sh (or bash -x or ksh -x depending on the type of script it is)

the -x option tells the script to print all each line to standard out (the screen) and then execute the line. If it is failing, you will be able to see where the failure takes place. From there you can do a little bit of debugging.

The printer is not listed on here and i tried setting it up with the closes drivers. I =tried the driver from the ml 1720 and it made my printer react but it ddint print. Or maybe FC5 will have my model listed now.

I had the same problem. Solution: Change into the directory, where the script lies. Type in a terminal: "su", enter root password, then type "cd /media/cdrecorder" (if your cd is mounted there). There type "./setup.sh". That's it.
