Print Server and Samsung ML-1710P

I have a network with FC3 as server and a Samsung ML-1710p connected on the usb via a dp300u print server. Can anyone help me configure the print server/printer so that the 1710 can be used as a printer from the FC3. I suppose CUPS has to be used to get it working? The config is as follows:

FC3 IP: 192.168.100.250 subnet 255.255.255.0
DP300U IP: 192.168.100.100 subnet 255.255.255.0

When I use system-config-printer and run the test print no pages are printed and a meessage saying "No response from localhost 192.168.100.100. Will try after 30 seconds" is displayed.

There are xp clients on the network which are using the dp300 and the 1710. This is configured directly from the xp clients.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
