FC5 test 3 powermac G5 freezes at install

I can get the install DVD to boot, though it freezes after the 'check media or skip' screen. The display goes blank and the entire computer is frozen; doesn't respond to any keystrokes, or changing Ctrl-Alt F2, etc.

Anyone able to install FC5 test releases on a powermac G5? Thanks. My computer is the dual 2ghz G5.

Hey. Did you try booting with linux text? I know my powerbook acts like it freezes up on install but it's just the display that disapears I can't use my keys either.

Okay thanks I'll try a few of those paramaters. Strangely enough, this same DVD booted and installed fine on my iBook G4 with no problems.

Check out my post here for my xorg and how to change inittab to not automatically boot into X.

The xorg.conf probably won't work exactly for you but you might try using the fbdev driver in the Device section like mine does.
