Booting problem, need floppy disk i think

i did a system restore for Windows XP forgetting that it erases the current boot loader which i liked using the fedora one.

how can i either recover this without erasing fedora and starting fresh

or

is there a floppy disk i can use that will let me boot my Fedora insallation whenever i want to use it


i know i ask many questions but i can not help out if i do not learn.
i now know how to help a person get a conexant win modem working under linux @ 14.4 kbs so i can help with that sooo
please help if you can. i shall try and help as many as i can when i learn more

If you were dual-booting before you did the XP recover, then your grub.conf file should be intact. All you need to do is reinstall grub into the boot sector. Fortunately, this is quite easy if you have a livecd.

1) boot your computer on the livecd
2) when you get to a command prompt, run grub and manually set it up. The following worked for me when I tanked one of my systems (ignoring the $ as it represents the command prompt):

$ grub (at this point the prompt will change to grub> )

grub> root (hd0,0) (this assumes that you want grub placed in the boot sector of /dev/hda)
grub> setup (hd0)

at this point you should (hopefully) be able to reboot the computer without the livecd and get to the grub screen.
