FC2-test1 reboot loop on install fail

Sorry Linux newb here. I have successfully installed RH9 to the box I am having problems with. The box will boot from the CD-ROM and get to the "General" Screen where the boot: prompt is. After typing any command the system will run vmlinuz....... and then initrd.rc (something like that), then go to a blank screen with a blinking cursor. After 5 or 10 seconds it reboots.

I have tried to install using linux text, linux mediacheck, linux noprobe, linux mem=128M, linux resolution=640x480. Everytime does same thing. I have used the media to test install on another box and it works fine.

The box is an AMD-K6/300, 3GBHD, CD and floppy, 128MB SDRAM (PC100).

Where can I start to troubleshoot this monster.

Re: FC2-test1 reboot loop on install fail

It seems you're having problem with graphics card.
Try "linux nofb"

BTW, were you able to install FC1 Stable Release?

I have not tried FC1 stable. I am going to try and get the iso's tonight. I tried linux nofb as well and nothing would get it past the vmlinuz, initrd.rc, Ready! Reboot loop. I will try tonight if I can get all the iso's. I will let you know how I make out.

I am open for other suggestions as well. Could I edit any files, or use different drivers? RH9 loads perfectly on this box..... hmmm.. Anyway, I will try FC1 and see where we stand.

Ok well I'm up with Fedora Core 1. no problems whatsoever. I am curious as to what has changed with FC2.test1. I wonder if they did not include a driver or library to accomodate my box.

So current status is RH9 installs perfect, FC1 installs perfect, and FC2.test1 crashes on boot after vmlinuz and initrc.rd.img or something.

Well, that's why they call it "Test Release"

Perhaps, you have better chance with FC2-Test2 which released today.

Hi,

I'm trying to install fedora core 2, and I'm having the same problem. Did you find out a way to solve it?

Thanks,

Andre
