confusion during kernel compilation

i am doing my kernel compilation(from 2.4 to 2.6) according to directions provided by following url:

but when i unpack my new kernel , i found these these files in my newly kernel directory(linux-2.6.15.4)

i just want to know is it right ?
according to directions provided in the url there is a .config file in my previous kernel directory(linux-2.4).but i don't have this .instead of that i have a configs directory

plz help me
