Shadows of Windows98

For the last few weeks, my Fedora computer has been locking on me. I've read through the forum, and see that others experience similar problems when using Firefox 1.07 (which is on my Fedora machine). When I'm surfing, eventually Gnome and Nautilus seem to lock. I can still surf, and close the firefox window, but I can't access anything else, not even terminal. My icons on the desktop disappear, and the menu bars won't respond at all.

Lately, this has happened a few times a day. I'm careful to not work on anything important if I'm surfing.

I don't yet have the skill to install Firefox off the website. I've tried, but get lost once I try to open the downloaded file. The command line thing is like math class. I can learn any language I need, but trying to keep 6's and 9's straight in my head is difficult (a problem called disnomia), so command line can be somewhat frustrating.

Yum hasn't updated Firefox yet, and I'm wondering how much longer.

I really hate having to go to my Windows XP box, just so I don't have to worry about a crash.

Danny

Yesterday I tried to upgrade Firefor 1.07 to 1.5 with an testing rpm. When the update started I was informed that I already have the latest version? Very strange...

I use Opera, a faster browser than Firefox. Direct link here:

Choose Fedora from the list. When downloaded, double click on the file, enter root password, and Opera will be installed.

Installed Opera Browser. So far, no freezes, etc. Opera is a bit faster, but I have so many customizations to Firefox that help me do things faster, so I'd really like to use it. Hope they make the upgrades available soon.
