Java installation

I'm trying to install the Java runtime environment and it's not working. i have FC4 and Firefox 1.5.0.1. I ran the following file: jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin, did the chmod a+x jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin, then it extracted the file jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.rpm and when i ran the command: rpm -iv jre-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.rpm it said that it was already installed. I closed out of the browser and went back in and it still was not working. Any idea?

I can definitely answer the first part of this. Java is automatically installed when you execute the bin file.

But I have found the same problem where installing this Java update didn't resolve my problems with Azureus...even after following a number of guides about it.

I anm running FC5 Test 2 and Azureus went wrong this morning when I did a rather rash upgrade top the whole system.

Check out http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...ion_notes.html

as that hgives you a guide to installing the Sun Java environment

Cheers

Gee. that's funny - I've installed it using SMFinley's instructions and it's running perfectly on Firefox 1.5.0.1 - Also running Azureus perfectly. Suggest you try them.
