The blue hat was never official. However, I never saw what was wrong with the blue 'F' that was used. Why didn't they just use that instead of the red hat logo? It fit in nicely with Bluecurve. Perhaps, I just answered my own question.....I think they are trying to move away from Bluecurve.
As for the similarity to Bahamas, I'm not worried. Fedora has a big F inside. Although the round bubbles are similar to that site and the F looks vaguely like Macromedia's Flash logo, combined they are the Fedora logo, entirely different in my opinion.
I'm not too phased at the logo - as long as the distro works well that is all that matters It's not so bad although I must admit - I preferred the old one. But I'm not gonna slit my wrists about it. Perhaps redhat should have a logo design contest - although I'm not sure they could squeeze that in before the launch date.
