ipw2200 & leap error message

I configured my wpa_supplicant.conf as such:

        eap=LEAP
        identity="XXXXXX"
        password="XXXXX"
        }

As per some instructions on the wpa_supplicant website for the conf file. Now the problem is when I run it I get the following error message:

Is this possibly because I have version 1.0 of the driver and the respective corresponding ieee version?Also using firmware 2.2
