PCI Express port - cannot allocate resources

I have this annoying portion of dmesg that shows
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0
for 3 times.

which shows about my PCI Express Port 1 using lspci

00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 03)

pci=routeirq doesnt fix this as suggested by dmesg log.

anybody encountered this from HP zd8000 series?

another dmesg error that i am seeing is:

Bad page state at free_hot_cold_page (in process 'X', page c1441b58)

I have the similar problem. When I start, it shows the following line:
PCI: can't allocate recource region 7: .....
PCI: can't allocate recource region 8:....
PCI: can't allocate recource region 9:...
This problem exists for different versions of kernal throughout the updating. My computer is HP pavilion zd8000 (zd8110 us)

Any suggestions please?

obviously this is PCI related, if you have express slot, or PCI card slot.
no wonder it also shows up with my have HP Pavillion zd8000 too. (zd8342)
i was talking with HP engineer, they replied back and sent them
some detailed information that they would be needing for troubleshooting like so

dmesg
lspci
uname
ioports
meminfo

i got his email from the the screen that is being showed up while booting though.
what ive learned from this is that, kernel up to 1656 will still show this same message over and over again. i was trying kernel 18XX but forgot to check that, arg.
hoping that this would be fixed by HP or FC5 then.

this issue is still present in FC5, below is a stripped copy of dmesg which shows

Linux Plug and Play Support v0.97 (c) Adam Belay
pnp: PnP ACPI init
pnp: PnP ACPI: found 9 devices
usbcore: registered new driver usbfs
usbcore: registered new driver hub
PCI: Using ACPI for IRQ routing
PCI: If a device doesn't work, try "pci=routeirq". If it helps, post a report
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 7 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 9 of bridge 0000:00:1c.0

i have a feeling its still the same PCI/Express Card slot issue. that means, i would try hours
of some tweaks again but this time, it would be under FC5.

ideas?

I wonder if this is related in any way to Bug 185989. I've been helping a friend try to get FC5 on an Acer notebook with PCI Express, and the "cannot allocate resource region" messages are seen whenever it's booted without acpi=off. The machine then locks up when udev starts.

I had a similar lock up with acer 5670WLMi, workaround: removed pcmcia from /etc/udev/rules.d/ . Had the same problem with FC4, workaround, chkconfig pcmcia off

spent hours to removed it from being shown with dmesg.
have tried passing acpi=noirq, but system performance got worst and very poor.
have tried passing pci=routeirq, did not make any difference.
now filed with redhat bugzilla here:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla....cgi?id=186557

unfortunately, with FC5 default and upgraded kernel, still i have this issue with me.
had followed up with bugzilla, pending status yet.

happy with FC5, sad with my fingers playing to resolve this issue.
EDITED:
the same result even after pcmciautil upgrade

HP Pavillion dv8000t

Fedora 5 has the same problem on my laptop (locks up at udev). For what it's worth, Ubuntu 6.06 boots up completely (with the same "PCI: Cannot allocate..." messages). The only missing hardware feature I've found is CardBus support (PCMCIA). The boot up mesages are listed below:

Booting 'Fedora Code (2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp)'

root (hd0,5)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet

initrd /initrd-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp.img
[Linux-initrd @ 0x37e3b000, 0x1b4b8e bytes]

Uncompressing Linx... Ok, bootling the kernel.

Hi to all.
I have the same problem with my acer 5601 BUT:

1. At the first stage of installation I had no problem;
2. At the second stage of the installation process,
when the system asks to reboot to perform
the final tasks of installation, the following screen appears
(and after the last row, there is no action I can take to
resolve the matter: no ALT+Fi, ... I can only press the ON/OFF
button to turn off the pc (Note that the prompt is blinking))
3. I want try something like "acpi=no" or "acpi=off"

I want try to start the pc with a live cd and find a file in which
to set acpi=no or acpi=off and then retry to restart pc without live cd;
can someone tell to me where a such file is located?

Thank yo to all and (I am Italian then) excuse my english.

... OK, booting the kernel

Hi, I was trying to start with Knoppix Live CD, on my laptop Acer 5600 Duo.

If I start simply with "boot: knoppix fb1280x800 lang=it" the system freezes (last message is something relate to cardmgr) BUT if I start with "boot: knoppix fb1280x800 lang=it acpi=off" system go ahead and boot normally, with normal performance.

Then may be the message "PCI: cannot allocate resources ..." is due to acpi?

I'll perform new experiments and I'll keep you piosted.

See you - Fabio
