Exclamation Trouble with FC4-ppc-disc1.iso disk test

Hi, I'm trying to install FC4 onto my G4 PowerBook. My problem is that the install disk 1 keeps failing the test that happens during initial installation prior to opening Anaconda. I've tried re-downloading the file ("FC4-ppc-disc1.iso" from the Fedora download page) and burning a new disc image with Mac OS X's disk utility twice and still get the same response: fail. All the other disks pass the test--is the problem on the other end? Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks a bunch,
Curran

That happens to a lot of people. Some say it might have to do with bad 'padding' at the end of a disk caused by some CD burners. Mine's not mission critical, so I didn't worry about it.
Check the MD5 or SHA1 of the downloaded iso, and if you really want to be sure, burn it, rip it back to iso, and check the md5 again.

I heard with nodma, performance is greatly impacted. It would be best to do the test before running the install.

Thanks

Thanks a bunch for the leads. A further question though: when you say to, "Check the MD5 or SHA1" are these files within the downloaded iso? (i.e. is it something the Disk Utility on Mac OS X can "look" at and tell me if it's okay?)

--Thanks again

The mirror I use (ftp.cse.buffalo.edu - real close, real fast for me) lists each iso and at the end of the list there's a file called sha1sum which has the sha1s for each iso. Then you can get a sha1 utility somewhere and sha the iso image and compare to the file you downloaded.
