DVD write problem

Yep Im still a Noob

I put a new DVD Writer drive in my system(lg 4166b). All I did was shut down, remove cd writer, install dvd writer and reboot. The DVD writer reads dvd/cd fine but when I go to write to it gives a mount error(among other things). If I go to format the +RW media (verbatum) I have to use -force. It does not like iso or even regular files.
I tried searching but did not find anything that would help. Any suggestions would be a helpful.
FC4 gnome

fstab
/dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder auto pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

Thanks
Lazlow
