can not write to any storage unit(dvd,cd,iomega or floppy

Please help me I cannot get linux to write to my dvd-rw,cd-rw,zip750,or floppy..
I get no file or firectory or no permission-or it cannot mount anything


when i download what i think will help -it does not seem to be installed ..no files oe directory

I tried usinf yum bu t it tells me it has an error parsing error, My book do not explain what a parsing is and what a o/n has to do with it??



I am new to linux and i am totally lost----please can anyone help me solve this-please????
