Most menu icons doesn't change if to use a icon theme from main theme sites

Icon themes from main theme sites like art.gnome.org, www.gnome-look.org are meant for use with default Gnome menu layout and in Fedora most menu icons doesn't change with them. Does anybody know more about it? I have searched the web, but haven't found any useful information about it. It is quite annoying.

I found this bug report in Redhat's bugzilla, but it is quite old and is still open.

because most themes are incomplete or are not built to replace every single icon.

one of the most complete themes i have found is NuoveXT

That is what I said. Fedora uses custom menu (layout/)icon names. Is there any workaround? Needs a discuss in fedora-devel? Or have it already discussed?

you have several options:

1. use alacarte to edit your menu icons
2. find the .desktop files and manually edit with text editor
3. use a complete theme
4. edit an incomplete themes .rc file
5. make your own theme

I too dislike the lack of completeness with alot of themes out there but if I can use anything but the bluecurve icons then i will be happy anyway

Most themes seem to be not complete, but some complete ones are not compatible also. Like Dropline Nuovo (and other Dropline series).

Actually the lack of completeness might have just confused me.
