Fedora install and Selinux question

When i originally installed Fedora 4 I chose to enable the SElinux security and now wished i hadn't. My system currently has 2 harddrives one that is 10gig and the other is 160gig. My OS is installed on the 10gig drive and i use my 160gig drive for data storage. If i was to disconnect the 160gig drive and then do a reinstall of Fedora 4 without the SELinux option. My question is if i try and reconnect my 160gig drive with the fresh install on Fedora, will i loose any of my data on that drive?

no need to reinstall.

run system-config-securitylevel. From within there, you can disable SELinux.

you don't have to reinstall type system-config-securitylevel then select the selinux tab and uncheck that enabled box

you can also open /etc/sysconfig/selinux in your favorite text editor and change the "Enforcing" to 'disabled' and then reboot. You should good to go after that.

I was wondering, as I'm exploring FC4, with the install of FC4 I disabled SELinux.

When I get a bit around in FC4, I plan on activating this though. I've read on this and different previous topics and the faqs that:

To disable use the editor or run system-config-securitylevel...

---> is this the same for activiting it?
Quote:
SELINUX=enforcing. You can either reboot or run setenforce 1 to turn enforcing on in real time.
By activating it, you should apply this to all running applications/processes...

---> so this could cause problems with the already installed packages?
