Hello,
I'm pretty new here, and tried to find these answers but was unable to, my apologies if they were overlooked by myself.
I've just installed FC3 on a Toshiba for a friend of mine today. The install went as well as could be expected. There are a few things I'd like to get working correctly before giving it back to her, and hoping to get some help here.
I'm a FreeBSD user, haven't touched any flavor of GNU/Linux in years:
I've found the "Up2Date" feature, which is really nice, but where do I go to find and compile software that I'd like to add which wasn't installed by default? Is there anything similiar to CVSUP and the ports tree? How then is this accomplished?
I notice a lot of services are started by default (I haven't disabled any yet, guessing they are in this xinit?). However one service is a firewall. I'm not familiar with any aspects of the linux firewall(s). Is the one installed by default a statefull packet firewall? How many firewalls are available? Lastly on this issue, where are the policies located?
I saw this question asked, but the reply stated it had been asked and answered, however, I was unable to find it.
What WiFi (PCMCIA) card is best supported under FC3. One which doesn't require the wrapping etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
tnx
