I am getting this error while installing:

    Testing if is correct.
ls: : No such file or directory
    ./quickcam.sh: line 699: [: too many arguments
ls: : No such file or directory
ls: : No such file or directory
    [!] major number is .
Usually it should be 81, so there are problems ahead.
WARNING: If you press Enter, I'll try to continue anyway,
but this probably will fail. You SHOULD press Ctrl+C now.
Press Ctrl+C to quit, Enter to continue --->

    Any Ideas ?

Your camera works with the pwc (Philips WebCam) driver. Replace the FC4 kernal PWC module by installing the latest module from:

    http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/

Following are some instructions to install copied from the driver website:

    1) download the file http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/fi...10.0.9.tar.bz2
(or the last available file on the site)
    2) unpack the file using the command command:
    # tar xjf pwc-10.0.9.tar.bz2
    3) compile the module (this needs the source of your actual kernel to
    be installed)
    # cd pwc-10.0.9
    # make
    4) login as root
    # su
    5) In case an older version of the module was already installed, use
the following commands to delete that module, if not go to 6)
    # find /lib/modules/`uname -r`/ -name "pwc*.ko*"
    # rm <name of the file.ko>
    6) Copy the new modules to the old ones
    # make install
    or
    # cp pwc.ko <path to the folder of original pwc.ko module>
    For example: /lib/modules/`uname -r`/{misc,extra}
    # depmod -a
    7) Unload the old module(s) or reboot the machine
    # rmmod pwc
    # rmmod pwcx
    # modprobe pwc

    Should I get colour images?

I've followed the instructions xblx provided (Thanks for those, btw) and I now get images from my Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 in camstream, but only in black and white. The "Contrast" slider in the video options is also disabled. Should I be able to capture colour images?

    Hello,

I'm using Fedora Core 5 and I have a Webcam Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000.

I'm trying install the driver, but it's not working.

    I'm using pwc-10.0.12-rc1 .

    See the messages, please:
    # rmmod pwc
ERROR: Module pwc does not exist in /proc/modules

    # rmmod pwcx
ERROR: Module pwcx does not exist in /proc/modules

    # modprobe pwc
FATAL: Error inserting pwc (/lib/modules/2.6.17-1.2174_FC5/kernel/drivers/usb/media/pwc.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

    # dmesg
    ...
    pwc: Unknown parameter `index'
    "

How your modprobe.conf looks regards pwc, please?

    Any ideas, please?

    TIA,
    Vinicius.

cviniciusm, please don't report posts for help. It's there for if there's an offending message in a post, or to report spam. Not to request help, that's what a thread's for.
