Hello,
I have just installed Fedora Core (well 3 times now).
I choose the "minimum" option, and it installs fine, and reboots ok.
The first command I run is:
yum -y update
And yum downloads loads of files, and then starts to update and install things. All seems well, until it says:
Installing slocate
And then the machine hangs (I can no longer SSH into the box). Existing SSH sessions still run ok, and so when I look in the output of "ps aux" and it shows:
/usr/sbin/useradd -c Network Crash Dump user -r -u 34 -g netdump -s /bin/bash -r -d /var/crash netdump
But I cannot kill this process, (kill -9 does not work).
Eventually, killing the yum process returns control but now yum wont update the rest of the packages it had in its list.
I have read about this elsewhere:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg01035.html
- does anybody have a fix - this has been outstanding for a long time now?
Jamie.
