acer aspire 1650

I'm new to linux and am planning to install fedora core 4 on my laptop(acer aspire 1650). I have very limited linux experience and don't want to mess anything too much. I would like to know whether it will be an issueless installation. Would all the hardware be properly detected and auto configured? I'm in university with a wifi b network, would that be properly detected?

Should go fairly well, Centrino does have a driver. However, you may have to enable the software repositories at http://fedorafaq.org/ and install ipw2200-firmware package to make it work. I don't know the details though.

See this about setting up a pretty network manager thing.

probs cropping up

installation went well but grub couldn't boot to windows even though i configured it to boot by checking the "other" option. this used to work in fc3. i had to fixmbr with the windows xp bootdisk to post this. so grub is wiped. i'll be searching for some docs on this online to fix this. the other issue is that the boot sequence freezes when it reaches the pcmcia detect. i had the same issue with the system rescue cd (gentoo) that i used to partition. i used the nodetect option to walkaround it. is this possible in fc4? coz i'm not using any pcmcia hardware.
