Question error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5:

I'm trying to run Stemania but the first time I ran it compalined abou

"libmad.so.0 is missing" so i went to the installation cd and I ran libstdc++-devel-4.0.0-8.i386.rpm since then I'm gettin the error
"error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5:"

i ttoka look in my system and I do not have it instead I have a libstdc++.so.6: , I have been trying to find libstdc++.so.5: in a rpm or something like that but I till now it;s been imposible.

Can anyone tell me how to get the precius library so I can run my aplication?

By using the SEARCH function in this forum you would have found the solution to your problem very quickly. In one of those threads that you would have found, you might just stumble onto this "trick":

How do I find a package (.rpm) that has feature or file "X"?
In the example below, "X" is "libstdc++.so.5":

yum provides libstdc++.so.5
In other words: yum provides something is your friend here.

I tried that command in my console and I get

Reading repository metadata in from local files
Importing Additional filelist information for packages
No Matches found

is there any other way?

You should be root to use the "yum" command, and the Internet connection must be working.

yeap , I'm ok with those 2 conditions, but every time I run the yum update I get

no matches found

you need to install compat-libstdc++to provide you with backward compatability.

Are you sure you are spelling the command correctly? Please cut and paste the command and its complete output.
