gDesklets Memory Leak

Is anyone else experiencing a memory leak while using gDesklets? They look so pretty but keeping my comptuer on overnight results in memory usage from 205mb => 363mb. I'm using version 0.35.2 of gDesklets. If there are any secret tips to stop this leaking i'm up for it. Thanks in advance.

the applets i'm using are : good weather, ftb, clock, calender, gauge, starterbar

Using FC4 x86-64 (2.6.14-1.637), fully updated through yum

System specs: 2800+ AMD 64, 1GB OCZ DDR 400 CL2, WD 80GB HD, 52x24x52x CD burner, generic case

p.s. when i'm not running gDesklets the memory usage stays pretty stable

Perhaps you should contact gDesklets developers about that issue.

Cool

My own experience with gdesklets is not good. It leaks memory just as you described. Even worse every applet you add if it has errors will add to the memory leaks. Every time a new version of Fedora comes out I spend a good day trying to track down the latest version and attempt to install it -- I usually resort to compiling it. I think the last time gdesklets broke with FC4 I spent some time trying to get it to work but then it occured to me I was only using it to embed a clock and XMMS controls into the desktop and in reality it was just as easy keeping a spare desktop window around with XMMS and a clock application running. So, I gave up on it and my memory has been better ever since. It is a little disappointing since I can't make as nice eye candy desktop screenshots anymore.

I've noticed that as I disable different applets my memory leak isn't as bad. I stopped using ftb and gauges and my leak has reduced to a couple mbs for a couple hours (computer is idle during this time). But yet it persists.

I'm using gkrellm now, and I'm thinking about trying the enlightenment window manager which I have heard comes with some good eye candy. But thanks for the confirmation of similar issues. I'm going to talk to the developers.
